Steps in Safety Planning:

• Identify
  • Risks
  • Barriers to the victim/survivor
  • Allies (people who can support the victim/survivor)
  • Solution Strategies (steps that can be taken to increase safety or reduce risk)
• Can be done on all levels
  • Resident/Clients (plan supports resident/client to be able to escape abusive situation)
  • Caregivers/Staff (plan assists with outlining caregiver/staff role in helping resident/client to escape abusive situation)
  • Agency (plan explains support role an agency can fill or take)
