ADA Definition of Disability

Specifically, the Americans with Disabilities Act states that a person with a disability is:
- An individual who has a physical or mental disability that substantially limits one or more life activities (self-care, manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, learning, working), or
- An individual who has a record of a physical or mental disability, or
- An individual who is regarded as having a disability by others
Some disabilities may not be visible until you have spent time with the individual or have reviewed the individual's medical history.
