Agency-Related Ethical Dilemma

You are the care coordinator for a 69-year-old woman who has had two heart attacks, a stroke, still smokes, has a personality disorder and refuses to live in an assisted living home. You have worked with this client for three years and she has moved five times that have included assisted living and a family member’s home.

The client now wants to move into her own apartment after having her second heart attack. The client's doctor has already told you she should not live on her own. This client is on the Waiver and has services in place for her move.
