Our next section in this topic is to give you some very basic information about aging. We will start with some statistics. The need for caregivers in this population is growing rapidly, as the older adult population grows. There will be more aging persons and care needs in the future. The chart here illustrates that:
- Between 1940 and 1960 the number of older adults expected to live until age 90 doubled.
- That number more than tripled between 1940 and the year 2000.
- There will be 6 times as many older adults living to age 90 in the year 2050 than in 1940.
